1st birthday things
I’m in shock we’ve already hit this milestone and are now carrying on with a one year old. “They” said it would go by too fast. “They” were so right! The days absolutely fly by with a little one. I’m living my life on a tiny human’s sleep and wake cycles, which leaves so little time to actually get my regular chores and work done. And just when I feel like I’m getting my head screwed on straight after welcoming this little bundle of energy to the world, I wake up, and it’s a year later.
Pre-baby, we said we wouldn’t do anything crazy for her one year birthday, or any birthdays, until she could remember it. As it turns out, pre-baby you and current-baby you look quite a bit different. And I couldn’t resist a little family pool party at home for her first birthday. She clearly only cares about socializing, but I’ll show her these photos later and remind her of what a fun mamma I am. haha
The night before, Uncle Buck came in clutch gifting Indie her first tiny bicycle. While Papa and Uncle assembled the bike, she showed us another hidden talent: she is also handy with the tools.
I love decorating but I didn’t want to overdue it for a party I said we’d never throw. I went with minimal, non-cheesy decorations that I couldn’t pick up at Target, because sometimes I just like to be difficult. So I ended up making my own flower paper garlands and finding some extra pieces from Etsy to complete my very casual girl birthday look. If you ask me, it worked perfectly. But no matter what the place looked like, she’s still a year old, and we spent it with family. So in the end, that’s what we’ll remember.
