From SoCal to Everywhere: Why Traveling with Young Kids is Worth the Effort
Hey there, Mama! As a mom, I know firsthand how daunting it can be to think about traveling with young kids. But trust me, the benefits far outweigh the challenges.
We started our girl on her own traveling journey when she was just two months old. It was a two-week roadtrip adventure that took us through several states and multiple national parks. And it wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t so hard either! Just starting and learning from each trip has made the next one a little better and she has learned what exploring the world is all about. Now she even asks to go the airport as a two year old! Haha
Traveling with young kids allows for some amazing family bonding time. In our busy day-to-day lives, it can be hard to find quality time to spend with our little ones. But when you're on a trip together, you have the opportunity to make memories and connect with your kids in a special way.
One of my favorite reasons to travel with young kids is that it can be a great way to introduce them to new cultures and experiences. Whether you're heading to a different state or a different country, there's always something new to learn and explore. This can be a great way to broaden your child's horizons and help them develop an appreciation for diversity and new experiences. This has been something that really made my own life more meaningful, and I love being able to pass this along to my little one.
And let's not forget the educational benefits of travel. Seeing historical landmarks, trying new foods, and learning about different customs and traditions can all be incredibly enriching experiences for young minds. Plus, travel can also help develop important life skills like adaptability, problem-solving, and communication.
Of course, I know that traveling with young kids can be challenging at times. But with some careful planning and preparation, it's definitely doable. Make sure to pack plenty of snacks, entertainment, and comfort items to keep your little ones happy and occupied, especially on long flights, or train rides through the countryside. And don't be afraid to take breaks and adjust your itinerary as needed to accommodate your child's needs. We had to frequently adjust our schedule on our Europe trip through 5 countries with our 18-month old.
Overall, I truly believe that the benefits of traveling with young kids far outweigh the challenges. So don't be afraid to pack up the family and hit the road (or skies!) for your next adventure. Who knows what amazing memories and experiences you'll create together.
